Ali FakhrMousavi

“My artistic journey began at the age of fifteen, and by seventeen I had already directed my first short film.”

Ali FakhrMousavi is a film director, screenwriter, and producer whose artistic path has woven together cinema, theatre, documentary, and television. Born in Iran in 1978, he first studied Dramatic Literature at the University of Art & Architecture in Tehran, where he developed an early fascination with human stories and the stage. He later deepened this passion by completing an MA in Cinema at the Kyiv National  Theatre, Cinema and Television University in 2005, a period that gave him both academic grounding and practical experience within a vibrant European film culture.

Experience

Ali FakhrMousavi Education

From 2002 until 2023, Ali lived and worked across Europe — in Ukraine, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Dubai, Russia and beyond. These years shaped him not only as a filmmaker but as an observer of diverse societies, carrying lessons from multiple artistic traditions. His work ranged from television series, films, and documentaries to radio programs and theatrical productions. He also gained extensive experience in journalism, news formats, and online media, learning to tell stories with both immediacy and depth. This multidisciplinary background became the bedrock of his cinematic voice, one that blends the intimacy of personal drama with the sweep of historical and cultural narratives.

Feature films

He says:

“I work with contemporary human stories across different parts of the world. Every culture inevitably shares hidden commonalities with others — it is these connections that must be uncovered and transformed into a language of mutual understanding.”

Autumn Memories
Blue Land

His debut feature, Autumn Memories (2016), and his second, Blue Land (2020), were both recognized at international film festivals, marking him as a filmmaker whose stories cross borders and resonate with audiences worldwide. These films reflect his central preoccupation: the way individual human destinies are shaped by the forces of memory, displacement, and history.
