Blue Land heads to California festival
Tehran – IRNA – The feature film Blue Land, directed by Ali FakhrMousavi, continues its international presence by taking part in the first edition of the Aloho Film Festival.
According to IRNA’s cultural desk, Blue Land, directed by Ali FakhrMousavi and produced by Reza Mohaqqeq, will compete at the inaugural Aloho Film Festival, which is being held online in California.
The first edition of the Aloho Film Festival is being organized in three sections: feature films, short films, and documentaries.
Brian Barsuglia, the artistic director of the festival, after watching Blue Land at the Las Vegas Film Festival, invited the film to participate in this California-based event.
He stated that nearly 2,000 films applied to enter the festival across its three sections. The festival was initially planned to be held physically, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is being organized online.
Winners of the festival’s different sections will be chosen through audience voting, and awards will be presented accordingly.
The festival also features a streaming and online platform, where audiences can purchase yearly subscriptions for $2,575 or $5,500 to access and watch the films.
Blue Land is the second feature directed by Ali FakhrMousavi, a joint production between Iran and the Czech Republic. It was filmed in Iran, with post-production completed in three countries: the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and the United States.
The film’s synopsis: Dr. Arash Pirou, after facing difficulties, leaves Tehran for a border village. In the village, he begins to uncover puzzles from the past.
The cast includes Mohammadreza Rahbari, Manouchehr Azar, Behzad Dourani, Sahar Abdollahi, Mohammad Jahanshahi, Fariborz Aliakbarpour, Arezou Abizadeh, Maryam Jangroui, and Mohammad Alaee.
The Aloho Film Festival, aimed at highlighting new talents, fresh directors, and unique films, is being held online in California from June 13 to June 27, 2021.
